The Lord is my Shepherd...
The word of God is clear. Unfortunately, unhealthy sheepfolds exist that are contrary to His voice, and they are to be noted and avoided.
Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them. For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple. (Romans 16:17-18)
For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works. (2 Corinthians 11:13-15)
By the grace of God, a believer in Jesus Christ can identify an unhealthy sheepfold and flee a strange voice. With knowledge, wisdom, revelation, and a willing heart, the negative influences and impacts of an unhealthy sheepfold can be negated. By knowing the Shepherd’s voice, it is possible to realize what He promised in John 10:10, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
